In April 2015, I was at a tech conference (Infusionsoft’s Icon). I happened to pass by a booth that seemed out of place among all the software based solutions on display.

Beware of people touting royalty shares to join an anthology. 

I once watched in horror as some beginners were planning an anthology in a chat room. Their first order of business was to find a platform that would divvy up the "assumed future royalties" from their book to all the authors. Assuming they would make a sale of a ebook sale at 99¢, they were planning how to split 30 cents (royalties) 30 ways. Nevermind the fact that the platform they planned on using was not known for selling lots of books. 

The other alarming thought was none of these people in the chat room knew how to launch a bestseller. I have helped 100s of authors become Bestselling Authors via solo launches or anthologies. So if those things appeal to you, be sure to choose the right project. 

An anthology is about bringing attention to all the authors, and that can best be done by getting the book into as many hands as possible (hence pushing to a very low price on a platform that actually moves books).
